There isn't a menu option to activate VR mode or any sort of built-in auto-detection for the headset.

To start with, getting the Oculus Rift to work with Dying Light isn't a no-nonsense prospect. After a few hours of testing, we have to say that playing Dying Light in virtual reality is a frustrating, nauseating mess that has us questioning what kinds of games are really going to work in virtual reality. Belle, we have to disagree with his magical impression. "It was like being ten again," Belle said in a promotional video. seemed eager to use VR as a selling point for Dying Light, going so far as to put David Belle, the originator of parkour, into a Rift headset to see what running around was like in virtual reality. This isn't the first big-budget title to have a VR mode- Alien Isolation included Rift support through a hidden switch, for instance. While Oculus and others have warned that simply porting an unaltered game to run on VR hardware can lead to severe problems with nausea and playability, that hasn't stopped developers and fans from pursuing the goal of making a virtual reality games that are truly "first-person."Įnter Techland, which announced in December that it would add Oculus Rift support to its zombie-survival-meets-parkour game Dying Light.

Since before Doom, gamers have been envisioning the ability to see what their character sees and move with free reign in a virtual environment that takes over their entire visual field, rather than being confined to a small, flat monitor. When a good chunk of gamers think about the potential of consumer-grade virtual reality hardware, they jump immediately to the idea of the ultimate first-person action game. Many games don't have the reset option at all, which always involves restarting the game with the headset close to the position you want and just hope its ok.If you can read that tiny message on the right side of the display with your face pressed right up to the screen, then I am impressed. Before they took away the option in steam I used to just go sit down at wheel launch game and hit the option it was so easy. Then back to headset and go through the menus to re assign the reset key.

Back to PC to hit one of the fkeys (default reset key) on the keyboard to reset view. So if I want to play I have to set the headset close to where I want to look at near my wheel.

They update the game every few months and it resets defaults. Is there any 3rd party app like open vr that would add something to the dashboard untill a fix?įor example just this week I was playing euro truck sim 2 with a wheel which is in corner of room not near the pc. But also game devs need to start adding stuff like reset position into their options right there in the main start screen. This is the number one feature for me that really needs to be added back to steam vr. Was soo easy before just hitting the button in steam. Or having to restart game with headset in a close to what you need position so you can navigate the menus untill you find it. So alot of the time when playing for first time it involves some messing around to set up. And for some reason mainly racing games I noticed have the option in the menu but it's not assigned to a button by default. I know some games have the option built in bit many don't. But for some reason they keep this option off. I thought they were finally working on the playspace features in the last few updates as they gave us more chaperone options etc. There have been a few posts like this for a while now, its still has not been put back.
